Steve White
is a Producer/Composer, percussionist, and performing artist whose multifaceted career bridges music, performance, and visual arts. Educated in Music and Drama at Cornish College, his foundation in Mask, Dance, and Ritual Theatre helped shape a career rooted in cultural fusion and interdisciplinary expression. Steve’s musical experience in West African, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and American Gospel traditions informs a diverse musical language, reflected in both his compositions and performances.

Early career highlights include experimental work with The Floating Opera and The New Performance Group. His involvement reflects the ability to blend classical and traditional forms with contemporary interpretations. A standout chapter of his career was his thirteen-year tenure with The Blue Man Group, where as an original cast member of the Boston show, he honed his craft in a visually immersive, percussion-driven environment, blending music, technology, and theatrical spectacle.

Beyond performance, Steve launched Rumpus Room Productions in 1997, a recording studio that became a hub for creative collaboration with artists like Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Wunmi, and Toni Blackman. His production work spans music, theater, film, and art installations, consistently emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach.  Through Rumpus Room, he’s helped merge performance art, music production and live event creation with studio precision, moving between different creative ideas and facilitating immersive experiences. Steve’s commitment to innovation has made a lasting impact on the multidisciplinary art scene—pushing the boundaries of contemporary performance and influencing a wide network of creators. His journey exemplifies how a deep, culturally-informed education paired with creative risk-taking can lead to a transformative presence in the contemporary arts landscape.
